The city of Langley is playing host to two special charity events this month, both of which have been organized to help worthy causes.
The first event will cover two separate sections of the Terry Fox Run. One is taking place in the city of Langley, with the other in Langley-Walnut Grove. Both of the runs will raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation, which helps with cancer research.
Each section allows runners to choose between 10k, 5k and 1k courses. They’re then expected to raise money for the charity by asking friends, family members and co-workers to submit pledges. The Terry Fox Run takes place in many communities throughout Canada.
One event which will raise funds a little closer to home is the Langley Hospice Society's 30th anniversary garden party. The group provides palliative care, a resource library, volunteer training, and individual and group support programs for people of all ages. The party guests will be treated to wine, appetizers, live entertainment, and a silent auction.
It's likely that the organizers of both events have invested in services from Langley printing companies to raise awareness in the area.
The 33rd annual Terry Fox Run will take place on September 15 at the Douglas Park Bandshell from 9:00am-1:00am and the Walnut Grove Community Centre from 8:30am-12:00pm. Call 1-888-836-9786 to learn more.
