Every year, the Langley Christmas Bureau leaps into action to help families in need find the magic of Christmas, and this year is no exception.
With the dedicated efforts of more than 100 volunteers, the Bureau works in conjunction with the City of Langley to ensure that struggling families enjoy a festive dinner and have gifts under the tree for their children.
Donations can be made in the form of Gift Certificates, or by sponsoring a family. With sponsorship, a donor provides a hamper of food stocked with the necessary groceries to prepare a complete holiday meal for the family. The Bureau then encourages the parents to select a toy for each child. It is suggested, when purchasing toys, to avoid buying stuffed animals due to the potential of allergies Every child also receives a book from the Langley Literary Association.
Last year, 787 families were gifted with food, gift cards and toys to make their Christmas merry thanks to the generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations of Langley, some of which are represented in the colourful graphic design of the Bureau’s Posters found throughout the city.
Until December 15th, givers are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys to Langley City Hall, 20399 Douglas Crescent. They can do so on Mondays to Fridays between 10am to 3:30pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. More information on how to help can be found on the Langley Christmas Bureau website.
