Langley residents have been invited to attend a special event in which the Fort Langley railway station will be celebrating its 100th anniversary.
To help mark the occasion, there will be live music provided by the RazzMaJazz band, as well as a cake-cutting ceremony and remarks by guest speakers. Along with this, there will be a display of photos that has been set up by the Langley Camera Club following the history of the station, and the building will be open so the public can walk through it for themselves.
The festivities are set to begin at 12 noon on the 20th June, with the station being opened all weekend. The building was originally constructed in 2015 by the Canadian Northern Railway, about two blocks from where it currently stands. When passenger services were cut back, it was closed and the community rallied together to save it.
It was moved and restored in the 1980s by the Langley Heritage Society, and has become one of the most important attractions in the town.
