The Langley Demonstration Garden provides a home for a variety of pollinators, and a selection of these will be the stars for an upcoming special community event.
The city will soon see the return of The Festival of the Bees, which serves as a reminder of the importance of these industrious insects. All ages are welcome to join in the assortment of activities, and both kids and adults alike may find the occasion to be of interest.
Along with an opportunity meet and learn from local entomologists, apiarists and other bee experts, the attendees can sit in on a beeswax candle-making workshop, craft a seed bomb and purchase a plant to take home. They will also learn about various bee species, such as honey bees, bumblebees and mason bees. Everyone is encouraged to join in the spirit of the day and wear a bee, butterfly or other nature costume, and refreshments will be served by donation.
The activity will be held outdoors, rain or shine, and there will be tents set up for the occasion. Groups that host events outside sometimes utilize banner printing services that craft materials that can withstand exposure to the elements.
The Festival of the Bees will celebrate these pollinators and all they do for the human and natural worlds will be on offer on May 27th. It will be held at 21200 Block Fraser Highway.
