The residents of Langley are gearing up to start the festive season early, with two special events taking place in the area at the start of next month.
The first, a Pioneer Christmas, will allow families to learn how people celebrated the season in years gone by. There will be traditional crafts like popcorn stringing and shopping at the general store, and guests will learn how to decorate gingerbread cookies.
Old Saint Nicholas is going to be reading ‘Twas the night before Christmas’ and handing out presents; he will also be posing for pictures. Other activities include a coloring contest and the chance to mail letters to Santa. The day's events will take place in two time slots; pre-registration is necessary.
Later on the same day, the Magic of Christmas Parade is taking place in downtown Langley. It will travel along the Fraser Highway from 56 Avenue to 207 Street. After the parade, there will be the lighting of the Christmas tree at Douglas Park. There is also set to be live entertainment, free hot chocolate, and craft activities.
Many of those who are participating will no doubt want to invest in decorations, such as Banners which might be purchased from Langley printing companies.
Pioneer Christmas will take place at the Langley Centennial Museum on December 7, with guests permitted from 10:00-12:00pm and from 2:00-4:00pm. Admission is $5 for a family of four. For more information, or to register, call 604-532-3536.
