Choose Print campaign hot off the press

Print services in Langley and throughout B.C.’s west coast are supporting their southern cousins' initiative to promote the sustainability and effectiveness of print. The “Choose Print” campaign, launched this week by the Print Industry Association of Southern California (PIASC) was developed to help dispel current misinformation about the use of ink and paper which the association claims is hurting their industry.

Amid pop culture myths that using paper kills trees and computers and digital devices will replace paper altogether, the PIASC is on a mission to tell a very different story; that print is effective, powerful, recyclable, renewable and sustainable.

The Choose Print campaign, launched January 17, 2011, hopes to direct traffic to its website at chooseprint.org. The goal is to educate the public about print’s stellar credentials which includes a place of honour in any company’s marketing mix which in turn, generates revenue for PIASC members.

A postcard campaign will also be launched, with PIASC staff firing off Postcards every month to approximately 2,500 ad agencies, design firms, graphic artists, executives in communications and so on.

The PIASC is encouraging all members to participate in the Choose Print program by adding the Choose Print logo in marketing materials, website, business windows and more. Quick facts about going green with print are also available on the Choose Print website.

B.C. and California have always been geographical cousins, so print services on Canada's West Coast will be watching the year-long campaign with great interest.
