Annual festival takes over Langley

The 2nd annual Arts Alive Festival will take place next month, presented by the Downtown Langley Business Association.

The festival is set to feature more than 200 visual and performing artists. Artists rented a 10 x 10 space for $95 to participate, in which all of the items must be Canadian and handmade. Some of the items that are expected to be for sale are handmade furniture, design accessories, toys and quilts. Authors will also be selling their works, and organizers promise that there will be special guest appearances.

There will be live musical performances, demonstrations and performances by magician Wes Barker. A children's area will have face painting, bouncy castles, a photo booth, chalk, art and balloon twisting. The Salt Lane area will have displays from stores, musical entertainment, vendors and family-friendly activities.

Events like this are an opportunity for local artists to make themselves known in the community, and for residents to pick up a unique, homemade item. Many of the vendors may invest in postcard printing services from their favorite Langley Print company, perhaps using the postcard as a large-format business card.

The Arts Alive Festival will be held in downtown Langley, on Fraser Highway between 204th and 205th Streets on August 15 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Admission is free of charge. To learn more about this annual event, call 604-539-0133.
