Veterans to be honored in Sherwood Park

A two-day festival is set to celebrate Strathcona’s military history next month. The event, which will be held in Sherwood Park, is part of Strathcona Celebrates - a series of events organized to mark the county’s 120th anniversary.

The event will start with a regimental dinner at the Community Centre; guests will be treated to a cocktail reception and dinner.

The next day, events will be taking place at several venues throughout Sherwood Park. The day will start with a pancake breakfast, which will be followed by a parade and a Key to the County roll past.

Lord Strathcona's Horse, Royal Canadian, will be given the Key, which is one of the highest orders in the county. In addition, there will be a performance by the Strathcona Mounted Troop Musical Ride, the unveiling of the Miok-McCormack Memorial, an exhibition of military vehicles, a zip line, edible art, and children's activities.

Organizers of Strathcona Celebrates have no doubt invested in services such as flyer and banner printing to advertise the numerous events taking place in Sherwood Park over the two days. With large Signs placed in the area, attendees will also find it easier to navigate the site.

The events will be happening from August 23-24. The Regimental Dinner will take place on August 23 and tickets are $75 each. The celebrations on August 24 will take place from 8:00am - 11:00pm. Admission for this part is free. For more information on all of the events, call 780-464-8111.
