Green plants utilize the process of photosynthesis to produce sugar, which they use as an energy source. Those who are part of a Sherwood Park workshop will learn how they can use them to create their own home air filter.
Spider plants, snake plants, ivies, dracaenas, and many other types of greenery are fairly easy to grow, and since they absorb carbon dioxide and impurities from the air, they can offer health benefits in the home. The students in the class will discover how to choose ones that will do well in the particular conditions their home affords, and they will also find out how to care for their new green friends.
Salisbury Greenhouse will be welcoming members of the public for its Fresh Air Garden class, and facilitation will be provided by one of its staff members. They will explore the different plants that can be effective air filters, including varieties approved by NASA, and they will even be constructing their own dish garden.
The registration fee for the event is $10. This reserves each learner’s spot, and they can put this towards the purchase of any plants they choose for their design. While they are encouraged to bring along a container from home, to help prevent disease, they have been asked to leave any outside plants at home. Care instruction sheets for the greenery used in an event like this can help to make sure the gardens created will be healthy for a long time to come, and Stationery printers can prepare them.
Salisbury Greenhouse will be offering this introduction to the benefits of houseplants on November 3. It will begin at 10:00 am.
