The High Five Awards are taking place in Sherwood Park this May. They are a presentation of the Strathcona County Youth Council and Family and Community Services.
Youth from kindergarten to Grade 12 nominate adults who they consider to be role models or mentors. Four awards are handed out based on grade divisions; those divisions are grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Nominees must live or work in Strathcona County.
Members of the public are invited to the awards ceremony, which last year attracted over 400 people. There are expected to be refreshments, guest speakers and nomination stories. In addition, they will also be able to enjoy performances by local youth groups and an art show.
This is an event that is mainly run by youth and gives them the opportunity to show how much they appreciate the strong adult role models in their lives.
The awards will likely be widely advertised in the Sherwood Park area. Local printing companies are often asked to provide services such as poster and flyer printing to help market such events. Both items are reasonably inexpensive to produce, and can be distributed throughout the community in many different ways.
The High Five Awards will be held at Festival Place on May 25th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Admission is free. For more information, contact Melanie MacNeil at 780-464-8210.
