Sherwood Park to explore winter gardening

Gardening in Canada often means coping with winters that start early, last a long time and are very cold, but a Sherwood Park workshop will introduce attendees to techniques for effective winter gardening.

The Winter Garden will be the focus of the workshop of the same name that will be on offer at the Strathcona County Community Centre this October. It will explore ways to create four seasons of interest in a garden, and it will be targeted at local growing conditions.

The activity will explore how choosing trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials can create a garden that catches the viewer’s interest all year long. It will also discuss putting the plantings to bed so they will be protected from winter kill, and everyone can ask questions and share their own tips for helping their plants make it through. It is being hosted by the Strathcona County Garden Club.

Growing a garden can be a real labour of love, and home horticulturalists often enjoy a chance to network, share best practices and get to know other green thumbs. A brochure printing company can prepare an assortment of materials to hand out during a workshop like this.

The Winter Garden workshop will be offered on October 12th. It will begin at 7:00 pm sharp, and it will wrap up at 8:30 pm.
