Robbie Burns Night is recognized all over Canada and in many other parts of the world, and celebrates both Scottish traditions and the works of poet Robert Burns. An event that will follow this theme will be hosted this year by Average Joe’s in Sherwood Park, and tickets are now on sale.
This will be the second year that this fundraiser for the Strathcona Firefighters Pipes and Drums Band has paid tribute to Burns, and it will assist the group in being able to continue giving back to the local community. The ticket price is $20, and each entitles the bearer to admission as well as entry in the raffle draws.
The components that have come to be Burn’s Night traditions will be included in the celebration, including the storied Address to the Haggis. There will also be live performances featuring Celtic drums and pipes as well as dancing, a silent auction and plenty of other activities to keep everyone entertained. The tickets for this occasion are expected to sell out fast, and the organizers remarked that they are grateful and appreciate this show of community support.
