Sherwood Park has a long history, and the Mennonites are one of the groups that helped to build the community. A local attraction will be hosting an open house that celebrates this heritage, and it can give both residents and visitors alike a glimpse into the area’s past.
The Strathcona County Mennonite Farm will give the public an opportunity to learn about their community’s past, and by continuing to engage in small scale plant and animal husbandry, it helps to ensure these techniques will not be lost. All ages can enjoy its open house, and the organizers have worked to create an agenda for the day that is fun for everyone.
Children can visit the animals, pick some berries and go for a spin in the bounce house, and adults will also have activities planned with them in mind. A country music concert is in the works, and garden tours, Mennonite food and even a candy store will help to create a fun-filled experience for all guests.
The organizers of the picnic explained that the site is wheelchair accessible, and all are welcome. A huge banner that welcomes everyone to a celebration like this can be crafted by an area banner printing company.
This salute to Sherwood Park’s past has been scheduled for August 1st. The venue for all the event can be found at 52006 Range Rd 231.
