Wetlands play an important role in the environment, and during a special activity that will be held in Sherwood Park, children and adults alike will have an opportunity to explore them more closely.
The Craigavon Meadows storm water pond, which is located on Calico Drive, will serve as the location for a CommuniTEA Pond Party, and everyone is invited.
This free event will bring together people from all across the community who are interested in learning more about its wetlands. Biologists from the area will lead groups for guided tours of the pond during which they will share details about it and the role it plays in the environment. They will also be giving demonstrations of water testing and explain what the results can mean.
Along with discovering more about the small body of water, those who attend the event will be treated to ice cold glasses of David’s Iced Tea, which they can enjoy while they mingle and chat with the others who come out. Reusable pop up Banners can be custom designed for use during outdoor community events such as this.
This celebration of wetlands and their role in the environment has been planned for August 1 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. Anyone with questions has been asked to contact Strathcona County Utilities at 780-467-7785 or watersaver@strathcona.ca, or to visit the event’s listing for more information.
