Seed starting can be both a fun and economical way to build a home garden, and a workshop will help Sherwood Park green thumbs with this practice.
Biologist and landscape gardener Dora Berry will be sharing her expertise when it comes to growing plants from seeds, and the techniques shared can be used to grow vegetables, flowers and many other types of plants. The participants will learn how doing so indoors can help to extend the growing season, allowing home gardeners to grow crops that may be too tender to directly sow outdoors.
The tips shared by Berry can help lead to germination success, and the new plants will be resilient and well-suited to transplantation into their permanent homes. They can be used in container and kitchen gardens, and everyone who registers is encouraged to bring along any questions they might have. It will take place online, and it is on offer thanks to the Strathcona County Library.
Hosting a workshop like this is one way a community can encourage residents to keep active and enjoy a new hobby. Advertising the event in local recreation guides will let the public know how, when and where they can participate, and these can be produced by local printing services.
The Grow from Seed Successfully online class is scheduled to welcome home horticulturalists on March 4th. The season’s scheduled start time is 6:30pm.
