The Harvest of the Past and the Harvest Food Festival are taking place at Alberta’s Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village next month, marking the end of a series of summer events in the area.
The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village offers a recreation of what farm life was like in Alberta before the 1930s. Guests who visit can experience how people lived during pioneer times. The Harvest of the Past will include a threshing bee using vintage farm equipment and the delivery of grain to an historic elevator.
The day will also feature a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society. Guests can also watch and take part in activities such as flower and herb drying, wheat grinding, feather stripping, quilting, and canning. It will definitely be a learning experience for all of those who attend.
The Harvest Food Festival will focus on presenting locally-grown foods. It is hoped that this will help to encourage the area’s residents to buy local produce.
Since it being held so close to the city, many visitors from Sherwood Park are expected to make the short journey to take part. Local printing companies are thought to have been helping the organizers get the word out by providing marketing materials, such as Flyers, Booklets, and Banners.
The Harvest of the Past and Harvest Food Festival will take place on September 8. For more information about the events, call 780-662-3640 or visit the official website.
