Sherwood Park class to create confident kids

Being home alone for the first time can be a rite of passage, and thanks to an event scheduled for a Sherwood Park venue, local youngsters will have the confidence they may need to do so with ease.

The organizers of the At Home Alone activity, which is aimed at kids from the ages of 8 to 12, will teach those who take part how to be safe when they are on their own. Thanks to support from the county, it is on offer free of charge, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

The instructor for the session will cover topics ranging from general safety and when and how to use 911 to how to reduce the risk of accidental emergencies. Potential hazards will be discussed, and there will also be a brief introduction to basic first aid. The workshop will run for an hour and a half in Meeting Room 2 at the Community Centre located at 401 Festival Lane.

Kids are often eager to pick up some new skills, and a workshop or class gives them the chance to do so. Stationery printers can craft personalized certificates of completion for an activity like this one.

The At Home Alone class will help to give kids confidence to be on their own on February 12th. At the time of writing, seats are still available.
