Sherwood Park celebrates Active Aging Week
Sherwood Park has plans in place for a program that will help its older adults make their senior years the best yet.
The community's Active Aging Week will give its senior set an opportunity to learn as well as sample an assortment of activities right in their own home town. These will take place at various locations.
The organizers have put together a schedule of options that includes everything from aqua fitness to tours, yoga, walking, strength and stability training, and even cardio salsa. A coffee meet and greet has also been planned, and there are also activities being offered on a drop-in basis. These are all part of the community's Active Aging Week Campaign, which is an international event held each October that highlights the positives that can go hand in hand with getting older.
Many communities organize special events for the public, and these can range from pop-up markets to dances, pot luck dinners, fitness classes and more. Local guides can be prepared by stationery printers to distribute to area households so they can make their plans accordingly.
The schedule of activity options for Sherwood Park’s older adults will open on October 1st, with the final session scheduled for October 10th. A full listing of these activities, along with their locations, can be found on the Strathcona website.
