Sherwood Park activity to introduce joys of houseplants

Some well-chosen houseplants can add life to home, and a Sherwood Park event will give future home gardeners information they can use to get growing.

Salisbury Greenhouse noted that it has one of the most extensive collections of houseplants in western Canada, and it will be teaching members of the public how to choose the ones that will do best in the conditions in their home. The attendance fee is $10.00, and each learner will be able to use this amount to help purchase some new “green friends” at the nursery.

During the session, the attendees will find out how to repot and care for houseplants, including how to situate them so that they will get the proper amount of light. Fertilization, watering and other tips will be shared, and everyone is welcome to bring along their own container to use or purchase one on site. Outside greenery is not permitted, as it may introduce pests and diseases to the venue.

When organizing a workshop like this, it may be a good idea to order additional learning materials from a local brochure printing company. These will help the participants to look after their plants on their own, and can become important tools in their resource library.

Salisbury Greenhouse will be offering this educational event on October 17th. It will begin promptly at 10:00 am.
