Family activities a-plenty this holiday season

There are a number of family-friendly activities in planned for the Edmonton area, including surrounding cities, such as Sherwood Park, over the 2015 holiday season.

In Sherwood Park, specifically

, the Festival Players are putting on a rendition of Mary Poppins at Festival Place. The performances is running until December 30 during the week and on weekends. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the Festival Place box office.

There is also a noon-hour Christmas Carol Sing-Along today December 18 at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton. This year marks the 15th year of the sing-along, which will feature the Edmonton’s pro-choral community.

Other events being held in the area include the 46th Annual Singing Christmas Tree, which will feature ballerinas, acrobats, singers and dancing Santas. This event is on from today until December 20, at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton. Tickets for the performances can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

On December 20, also known as the winter solstice, a short film festival is taking place in cities across Canada, including Edmonton. The festival will feature a variety of kids short films at the Metro Cinema, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
