Community awards to be handed out in Sherwood Park

The annual Pride of Strathcona Awards will be presented in Sherwood Park early next week. The awards honor those who have made a significant contribution to the community.

The winners of the awards were put forward by the public and their peers; all nominations were received by February and the winners were then voted on by the Selection Committee.

In order to be eligible for the award, nominees must reside in Strathcona County or have lived there in the past. Some of the awards up for grabs include Community Service, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Agricultural Leadership, Youth (21 and under) and Senior (65+). The Mayor's Award is also handed out during the evening to someone who has made a lasting contribution to the lives of people in Strathcona County.

Those attending the awards ceremony will also be treated to a cocktail reception and will have the chance to meet and talk to the winners of the awards.

The Awards reception is promising to be an excellent networking event for those in business in Strathcona County and Sherwood Park itself. Many of those in attendance will no doubt be investing in a new business card printing order before attending to ensure they have cards to hand out to those they meet during the evening.

The Pride of Strathcona Awards and cocktail reception will take place at Festival Place on June 24, beginning at 7:00pm. Admission is free. For more information, call 780-464-8103.
