The Canada Day Festival will take place at Broadmoor Lake Park on July 1 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM. Admission is free to all.
The day will start off with a pancake breakfast at the Community Centre from 9:00 AM - noon. There will be lots of activities at the park and around town all day. The Canada Day Headquarters Stage will be located in the Kinsmen Leisure Centre parking lot. It will feature Japanese drumming, dancers and music from acts such as Hey Romeo. Mamoet's Building Block of Play Day will be taking place from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and will feature "back to basic" play for children such as painting, sand, dirt pile and drumming.
There will also be lots of other family activities at Broadmoor Lake Park including skating, chuckwagon kid rides, a petting zoo, a climbing wall and face painting. There will also be a farmer's market, the Sherwood Park Elk's multicultural stage, a butterfly house, canoe rides, crafts and puppet shows. The Qualico Patio series will provide music and entertainment for adults and kids at separate times. The Sherwood Park will be holding a Canada Day parade in the city beginning at 10:00 AM.
It will not all be fun and games; a Canada Day Commemorative event will take place in the Sherwood Park Arena parking lot from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. It will be celebrating those have served and who are currently serving in the Canadian military.
With so many activities going on, it is most likely that organizers have sought help from Sherwood Park printing companies to help publicize and decorate the various venues for our most important holiday of the year.
