Best-selling childrens author to visit Sherwood Park library

Recognized children’s author Todd Parr from Berkeley, California, will be visiting Strathcona County Library in Sherwood Park, according to sources.

Parr has written over 30 children’s Books, some of which have made an appearance on The New York Times bestseller list. He will be showcasing his work at the Strathcona County Library, and the event is geared towards those who are three and older.

Parr supports the Read Aloud Campaign 2015 and encourages the practice, according to assistant supervisor of Youth Services at the library, Michele Feser. She commented:

“He understands the importance of [reading aloud] and we’re just thrilled that he said yes and it fits perfectly with our goals and objectives for our campaign.”

The campaign encourages residents to try the practice for the whole of March. It is estimated that around 5,000 hours will be dedicated to it as a result. On April 13th, the library will be announcing the official grand total on Facebook and Twitter of how many minutes were calculated.

To get the community involved with the movement a reputable flyer printing company can help spread the word.

Parr will be reading at the library Tuesday, April 14th and 15th from 6:30pm to 7pm and Wednesday from 10:30am to 11am. The event is free. People can register at www.sclibrary.ab.ca or call 780-410-8600.
