Applications invited for Sherwood Park Canada Parade

Sherwood Park and District’s Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a community Canada Day parade on July 1, and local companies and organizations are invited to join in the fun.

The chamber’s Parade organizing Committee is seeking applications from anyone interested in taking part in the event, which will wind through the city’s core. This participation could take a variety of Forms, ranging from horses to marching bands, a float, a flatbed pulled behind a truck, a decorated car, pickup or van, a walking group, or almost any other entry that will catch the spectators’ interest. A printer will be able to make Banners or Signs for them to carry along the way.

It is expected that thousands of community members will come out to enjoy the event. Those organizations or companies that get involved will be welcome to hand out items like coupons, flags, or candy to members of the crowd. A request has been made for balloons not to be handed out and candy not to be thrown to the audience that lines the route.

While there is no charge for not-for-profit groups to have an entry in the parade, businesses are asked to pay a fee of $60 each, or $50 if they are a member of the Chamber. This can be paid at registration time, the deadline for which is June 17.

Those who make an application will receive an information package when they do so, and further details about this can be found on the Chamber’s website.
