A learning opportunity for Edmonton kids who love animals will soon be here, and it can be a way for those who take part to get started at running their own small business.
Kids from the ages of 10 to 15 are being offered spots in the Edmonton Humane Society’s Pet Sitter Course, which will teach them a variety of skills and help them gain confidence in looking after pets. It will run for two days, and it will include hands-on learning.
The two-day short course will include four-hour sessions that cover everything from daily pet care to handling companion animal health-care concerns, and understanding non-verbal pet communication cues will also be covered. A behind-the-scenes tour of the Society and its operations is on the agenda, and a facilitated animal interaction will also take place.
At the end of the course, the participants will each receive a certificate of completion they can show to prospective customers. Stationery printers can use graphic design techniques to prepare a variety of custom materials for an activity like this.
Edmonton’s young animal lovers who are interested in becoming pet sitters are welcome to sign up for this event, which will begin on May 2nd at 13620 – 163 Street NW. The Society's website includes a registration link or those who are interested, and the fee to participate has been set at $130.25.
