Edmonton to celebrate 100 years of aviation

Canada’s oldest operating airport will be pulling out all the stops for a celebration that will whisk its guests back in time to the roaring ‘20s.

Cooking Lake Airport has reserved space at the Alberta Aviation Museum for its gala celebration, and it will honour 100 years of flight in Edmonton. Attendees are invited to enter the spirit of the event by dressing in ‘20s-style clothing, and tickets start at $131.25.

Festivities will open with a cocktail mixer, and the meet and greet will run for one hour. It will then be time for dinner, which will be catered by Sawmill Catering with Shane Blakely serving as the emcee.

Buffalo Airways’ Mike McBryan will address the crowd, and afterwards, everyone can take to the dance floor to music provided by Blackboard Jungle. Two local hotels have special room booking rates available for a block of rooms for guests at the party.
