Edmonton plans illuminated evening

As winter approaches and the nights grow longer, Edmonton will be gearing up for a special illuminated event.

Late November will see Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park transformed into a winter wonderland for the 2024 Winter Whyte Light Up. It is being presented thanks to the efforts of the Old Strathcona Business Association, and the family-friendly fun will be free of charge.

This annual winter festival will be filled with colourful twinkling lights, and everyone can keep their hands warm with a cup of hot chocolate to sip on. Carollers will be circulating among the crowd to provide entertainment, and giveaways of themed Promotional Products and other prizes are in the works as well. Firepits will be set up to gather around, and the streetcar will be on site decorated and ready to provide short rides to those who hop aboard. The light-up art installations for this year will be unveiled during the event.

One of the event’s traditions is that it gives back to the community as a whole. In previous years, it has taken up collections for local food banks. More information about this year’s charity of choice will be released at a later date.

The 2024 Winter Whyte Light Up will bring festive fun to Edmonton on November 30th. A full description of what will be taking place and the timings for the activities can be found on the Old Strathcona website.
