Weaving techniques have been used by people all over the world to produce clothing, blankets and other textiles, and an Edmonton workshop series will take local crafters with some experience to the next level.
The Edmonton Weavers Guild will be offering a class schedule that will introduce different ways of manipulating a plain weave as well as twill structures. There are six sessions planned, and they start in early November.
The classes will cover a variety of topics, including how to and warps and also how to prepare their own loom for weaving. At least some experience with the craft is required, and the participants will walk away with a better knowledge of double weaving, overshot, point twill derivatives and lace weaves. Everyone will learn how to read patterns and adjust them to their size of loom. Various materials to use will be discussed, and the registration fee for the course is $310.00 per person.
Learning new crafting skills as part of a group can be a lot of fun, and they also provide opportunities for the attendees to meet and get to know others who also share their interest. Copies of any handouts needed can be prepared by Stationery printers,
This chance for Edmonton weavers to take their skills to the next level will begin on November 8th at 10139 87 Avenue Northwest. The other sessions are set for November 15th, 22nd, 29th and December 6th and 13th.
