Choosing to use native plants in the reclamation of former industrial sites can have many benefits, and an upcoming Edmonton seminar will provide further details about this to those in the environmental, horticultural and forestry professions.
The NAIT Boreal Research Institute (BRI) will be the host of the event, which will include presentations by a variety of researchers and specialists in the fields of silvaculture (tree growing), horticulture and plant science, ecology, reclamation and more. The goals of the daylong seminar include discussing the benefits and challenges of choosing to use native plants on former industrial sites, sharing knowledge and best practices among those who attend, and providing opportunities for the attendees to network with one another. Wide format printing can be used to create Banners, decorations, and Signs for workshops and other educational functions such as this.
Both CAPTF and CAPE members who participate will be able to use the event towards obtaining Continuing Competence credits.
Tickets to take part in this educational opportunity are $60 each, which includes both refreshments and a lunch. It will take place starting at 9:00 am on October 24 at the NAIT, which is located at 11762 106 St. NW, Edmonton.
Further details about the Utilizing Native Plants in Reclamation: Learnings and Ongoing Challenges seminar, as well as a chance to purchase tickets, can be found by visiting its Eventbrite listing.
