Edmonton competition crafts botanical cocktails

Edmonton foodies are about to experience a taste of the wild, thanks to a night that will feature some creative mixology.

For one night only, mixologists from across the region will be showcasing how botanicals and other wild, foraged ingredients can be used to craft tasty cocktails. They will each be preparing a signature drink, and the activity is a collaborative effort of Explore Edmonton and From the Wild.

The friendly competition will challenge its participants to craft a cocktail recipe that speaks to the region's natural side, and the competitors will source their ingredients locally. The session will open with a beverage happy hour and an assortment of bites, and after this, everyone can enjoy the excitement of the cocktail competition. From the Wild will supply the judges, and afterwards, everyone can continue to mix and mingle.

To help the competitors get started, they have taken part in a special forging workshop that provides an introduction to the botanicals that can be found in the area. Custom tasting glasses, recipe cards and awards for the winner of a contest like this can all be sourced from a local printing services provider.

The Moonlight Cocktail Club will be offering this experience on June 16th, starting at 6:30 pm. Woodwork, located at 10132 100 St NW, will be the venue for the occasion, and it is part of the larger Taste of Place Summit.
