Last straw for the Scarecrow Festival

The 20th annual Scarecrow Festival will take place at the Edmonton Expo Centre next month and, with it being the last year the festival will be held, it will be all the more reason to go along and see the event go out with a spooky bang.

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities taking place, with a variety of games, face painting, caricatures, the Pumpkin House, crafts, toys, and cookie decorating all there to be sampled. There will also be several special areas such as the Haunted House, the Mortal Wound, and Wax Hands. The Whispering Tomb is another attraction available, where younger children can go to have stories read to them. Most of the aforementioned areas require activity tickets and the Haunted House has an extra $4 entry charge.

Sponsorships are also available for this event from $500 - $5,000 and those who lent their support will be mentioned in all advertising and at the event itself. Organizers will no doubt be working with Edmonton printing companies to help recognize the sponsors of this October 12 – 14 event.

In addition, there will be a special adult-only event to help raise extra funds for ABC Head Start. On October 12, Magic and Masquerade will take place beginning at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $100 per person and the event will start off with a cocktail reception, followed by a three-course sit-down dinner. There will also be entertainment, a silent auction, and door prizes.

ABC Head Start is a pre-school program for low-income families that helps children to get off on the right foot in their school career. Tickets are $4, plus 50 cents each for activity tickets. All proceeds go to support ABC Head Start. For more information, call 780-478-9174.
