Date set for Edmonton scleroderma fundraiser
Scleroderma is a group of autoimmune diseases that impacts Canadians from coast to coast, and Edmonton residents are encouraged to join the fun of an activity that will raise funds to help find a cure.
The city will be joining others across the county in “making a move for scleroderma”, and this signature fundraiser will take place in Rundle Park. This year’s organizer is Lyna Phung, and one of the main goals is to raise awareness.
The activity will kick off with a warm up session in the park, and it will then be time to take to the trails for the walk. There will be an assortment of guest speakers addressing the crowd, and Tim Hortons will be supplying the refreshments. Prizes will be presented, and entertainment will add an extra dash of fun. As some living with the illness may not be able to participate in a large group, they are encouraged to find their own way to get involved and “make a move for scleroderma”.
Many not for profit activities do “double duty” by raising both funds and awareness. A printer can prepare corporate gifts that incorporate an organization's logo or other branding, and these may be presented to the volunteers to thank them for their support.
Scleroderma is believed to impact 30 out of every 1,000,000 people, and this fundraiser, which takes aim at the disease, will be held on July 6th. More details will be provided upon registration.
