Tourism Calgary hopes to make a staycation summer

Tourism Calgary is encouraging those who live in the city to stay at home this summer by showing them all that it has to offer.

The organization has noted

the reason for this decision is based on current market research. This data indicates that the economic downturn that has hit the area means more people will be choosing to take a “staycation” this year. Its CEO Cindy Ady pointed out that:

“Seventy-five per cent of our summer traffic is regional traffic”

She added that with a little bit of extra effort, this number can grow even larger.

By promoting the idea of a “staycation”, the organization hopes to encourage people to get out and enjoy themselves this summer without having to go far from home to do it. A company that provides printing services will be able to create a wide assortment of Promotional Products that can make a campaign like this a success.

Ms. Ady went on to say that her organization will also increase its efforts to promote itself as a summer vacation destination of choice to those who live in B.C. and Saskatchewan and also the USA. She feels that the high value of the American dollar relative to the Canadian dollar will make a visit to the city of Calgary an attractive option for those who live in the states.
