Alberta is home to many lakes, and it has a Calgary symposium on the horizon that may be of interest to those tasked with serving in stewardship roles when it comes to these bodies of water.
The annual Alberta Lake Management Society has reserved Heritage Hall SAIT for its 2026 Workshop, and its agenda will run for two days. The Bow River Basin Council has also lent its support to the occasion, and it will be filled with opportunities for learning, collaboration and connection.
The delegates at the event will be able to sit in on presentations by Drs. Fred Wrona and Irena Crees, with topics such as lake isotopes, the challenges presented in controlling blooms of cyanobacteria, drought, the value of urban stormwater ponds and more to be covered. Tours to local sites of interest will take place, and the goal is for everyone to walk away with lots of information they may be able to use right away. A draft agenda will be presented close to its set date. The last day to purchase tickets is September 13th.
A cocktail mixer will be part of the experience on offer. The attendees can meet and exchange Business Cards, building connections that may be helpful to them.
