The public is invited to come and show their support for the 52 (City of Calgary) Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in about a month’s time.
The Squadron will be staging a Freedom of the City Parade, which is being held to mark the 75th anniversary of the Air Cadet League of Canada and the 75th anniversary of the squadron itself.
The parade will begin at the Mewata Armouries and proceed east along 8th Avenue. Once it reaches 1st SE, it will turn north and then follow that street before turning south on MacLeod and finally stopping in front of City Hall. A ceremony will take place in front of City Hall from 2:00 until 2:30 pm, after which the parade will march back to the Mewata Armouries. For events such as this, Banners that include the regiment’s crest and other insignia, as well as its name, can be prepared.
In order to accommodate the marchers, there will be a series of rolling traffic blockades set up by the Calgary Police, and MacLeod will be closed to traffic from noon until 4:00 pm on the stretch of it that runs from 6th Avenue to 9th Avenue.
The Freedom of the City Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 9 commencing at 1:20 pm. Those who would like to learn more are invited to visit the Downton Calgary event website.Get a Free Quote for Banners
