Although many may not be aware of it, it is possible to have beehives even in the heart of the city, and a Calgary event will provide living proof of this.
This city’s East Village Experience Centre has five beehives on its property, and these will be the main focus of tours that will be hosted by a spokesperson for MOB Honey. The group will get a chance to meet the bees and their home, and while they do, they will learn about these insects and their role in the ecosystem.
Anyone aged four or over is invited to be a part of this introduction to the apiary. They will don actual beekeeping protective gear, and then head out to the hives. The organizers have asked that each participant wear long pants as well as boots, long socks and a pair of gardening gloves. It is also recommended that they take along some snacks, a drink and their camera so they can capture the experience.
MOB Honey will be hosting this workshop, and it can provide an introduction to the role it is playing in ensuring all bees, wild and domesticated, will thrive. A brochure printing company will be able to supply materials that can be distributed to the attendees, which can give them further details about the organizer of an event like this.
The East Village Experience Centre has set aside one day in July, August and September for the public to come and meet the bees. It is free to attend, and the next opportunity is on July 7.
