Calgary residents are reminded to mark their Calendars for a fundraising event that will give men an opportunity to show their support for women in their communities.
Through the cooperation of Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacies, the YMCA will be hosting its annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser. The walk is intended to increase awareness and also provide monetary support for the YMCA’s programs that help women and children escape domestic violence and prevent it from happening in the first place.
The more than 250 men who take part will don high heels and strut their stuff along Stephan Avenue, with all of them having committed to raising at least $1,000. The organizers will make sure there are shoes in all sizes, and a complementary lunch will be served afterwards. Wide format printing can be used to create Banners and other decorative signage for events such as this.
Men throughout the city are encouraged to sign up to participate in this event that combines fun with fundraising. It will take place on September 20 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. There is no cost to participate, but each man who does is asked to raise at least $1,000 to do so.
