Time management workshop to be held in Rockingham

A series of monthly workshops aimed to encourage productivity in work places will begin later this month in Rockingham.

The ‘Shut Up and Work’ classes are being run to help motivate people who may have difficulty achieving their goals. They will teach students how to manage their time more effectively. Flyer printing may be used to advertise other events coming up in the community.

Attendees are encouraged to come to the sessions with a laptop and their set tasks and will be assisted in completing their work through the use of the Pomodoro technique. The technique was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980’s where work times are set for a limited period of time and punctuated by small, frequent breaks.

The technique became popular in San Francisco among the writing community who struggled with lack of motivation and isolation. The use of small breaks throughout the day gave writers the opportunity of being able to mix socially and still remain productive.

Each session will be divided between 45 minutes of work, and 10-15 minutes where students can take a break, have a cuppa and then resume work again. During the work period, focus is completely directed on the task at hand and it is believed that in this way, a higher level of productivity is achieved.

A session will be held on Thursday 27th June at the Kent Street Deli at 9:30am.
