New tourism campaign targets adventure seekers

A campaign to attract more visitors to Rockingham during Spring has been launched.

The City's marketing campaign `Rediscover Adventure, Rediscover Rockingham' sees the start of an enthusiastic push to gain the attention of tourists and locals, as well as highlighting some of the region's many adventure and outdoor experiences.

Spearheading the campaign is a competition being run by Rediscover Rockingham Adventure Holidays in which $3500 in prizes is up for grabs ranging from kite surfing and skydiving to kayaking, meals and accommodation.

Adventure seekers in particular, are targeted in the campaign which Mayor of Rockingham Barry Sammels says promotes the area's attraction to adventure and eco tourists. He added:

"Fortunately, we don’t have to work too hard to show people that bucket-list adventure, nature and aquatic wildlife experiences can be enjoyed within a short drive from Perth."

Tourism brochure printing campaigns are also often used to help promote the region's many attractions.

The Mayor said that Rockingham boasts many unique activities for those who enjoy the great outdoors and its promotion as a place of adventure will put it firmly on a path to boosting its tourism in the future.

People who live and work in the region will also be encouraged to rediscover some of the adventure experiences available right on their doorstep. Comments from residents on the area's Strategic Community Plan indicated strong support for the City to be pro-active in pursuing economic and tourism development, of which this latest campaign is a good example that Council was listening.
