Farce-lovers in the Rockingham area may be keen to buy tickets for the brand-new amateur production of Let’s Murder Marsha being held later this month.
The farce was written by Monk Ferris in 1984 on behalf of the Concord Theatrical Company. Farce is a much-loved theatrical genre, typically combining mistaken identity, improbable situations and absurdity. Local amateur productions often are part of community brochure printing that alerts possible fans to upcoming shows.
In Let’s Murder Marsha, the heroine overhears her husband telling the decorator about secret plans for her birthday. Consumed by murder mysteries, Marsha believes that they are plotting her murder so of course her birthday surprise is full of chaotic twists and misunderstandings that the audience are privy to but seemingly the characters on stage are oblivious. Typically, there will be characters that are mis-identified, sharp entrances and exits and confusion on all levels, which makes for rich comedic moments.
Let’s Murder Marsha is playing at The Castle, Rockingham Theatre Company, 8 Attwood Way, Rockingham 6168. The play starts on Friday 9th June and runs until Saturday 24th June. Tickets cost from $24. The show starts at 8pm, with matinee shows at 2pm on 11th and 18th June. The play is directed by Callon Leam, who is also a Board member of the Rockingham Theatre Company. Local charities continue to be supported by the Company.
