Fans of The Rocky Horror Show in the Rockingham area may be keen to buy tickets for an early celebration of Halloween at the Pipers Inn, with Halloween costumes encouraged for all attendees.
Since the theatre debut of The Rocky Horror Show in 1973, fans of subversive comedy horror have been enthralled by The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was released in 1975. The show acts as a parody and tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies that were prevalent in the 1930s onwards. Actor Richard O’Brien was significantly involved in writing the music and lyrics in the theatre production and played Riff Raff in the film version.
Although not a hit initially, the film became popular as a midnight movie when audience participation began to surge in 1976 at the Waverley Theater in New York. Subsequently, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has the longest-running theatrical release ever and has a massive international cult following. In 1975, it was selected for the US National Film Registry as being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”
Promoters of local events tend to use nearby printing services shops for flyer printing to inform the community of productions that may be of interest.
