Sitcom fans of a certain age in the area of Rockingham can now purchase tickets for the theatre show Mother and Son, in homage to the TV series of the same name.
Mother and Son was broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for ten years from 1984. It was a popular comedy show in which the character Arthur, played by Gary McDonald, moves in with his forgetful mother Maggie, played by Ruth Cracknell, after the death of Leo, father to Arthur and wife of Maggie, and never leaves.
Both McDonald and Cracknell won Silver Logies in 1994 for Most Outstanding Actor and Actress, respectively, on the show.
The stage version of Mother and Son had its premiere in Melbourne in 2014 and was written by Geoffrey Atherden. This same play will now be shown by a popular local venue.
Poster printing can be an effective way of drawing potential audiences to local theatrical events.
Mother and Son will now be playing at the Rockingham Theatre Company, which can be found at 8 Attwood Way, Rockingham. There are scheduled performances throughout every weekend April, with the last taking place on Saturday, 20.
There will be matinee performances on the 7 and 14 April at 2pm. Otherwise, the evening shows on all other dates will take place at 8pm. Tickets cost from $22.
