Tottenham area to present major race event

An internationally famous celebration is returning to a renowned racecourse near Tottenham for four days of sporting action.

Racing fans in the area are well placed to celebrate the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Once again, the iconic event is taking place in easy reach of the suburb.

Closely associated with glamour, the carnival is an immersive experience combining the finest in racing, entertainment, food and fashion. Each race day has its own dress code. For instance, Derby Day is black and white, while Oaks Day is florals and pastels.

While dozens of races occur over the course of the event, the four most prominent are the Victoria Derby, the Mackinnon Stakes, the VRC Oaks and the Melbourne Cup itself, also dubbed the “Race That Stops The Nation”. In Victoria, this is literally the case of course, as Melbourne Cup Day is a public holiday.

The 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival will now run at Flemington Racecourse with events taking place between Saturday, October 31 and Saturday, November 7. While the carnival is held across four days, these events do not happen consecutively.

The racecourse can be found based at 448 Epsom Road in Flemington, a short drive from Tottenham. Tickets are available to buy in a range of different packages and prices.
