Winter sports clubs in Footscray and around the City of Maribyrnong can enter to win prizes by signing up to the council’s new waste scheme.
The Good Clean Game initiative was launched late last year by the council to encourage sports clubs and their supporters to take pride in their grounds and reduce waste.
Those that sign up to the scheme are given special rubbish and recycling bins, as well as receiving the usual weekly collections and storage options to prevent vandalism or theft.
They are then encouraged to get their members and supporters to use the bins rather than dumping their litter.
Clubs could use poster printing around the changing rooms and public areas to encourage users to support the scheme, and improve their chances of winning a prize.
Any group that joins the scheme will receive a welcome pack and will then be monitored by the council throughout the season to ensure it is complying with the terms of the programme. Clubs that do well can win vouchers of up to $500.
Summer sports clubs have already taken part in the competition, with several Footscray-based teams including the Footscray Baseball Club and the Footscray Edgewater Cricket Club being winners in the contest.
The winter round closes on Friday, August 7th. For more details or to register, visit the City of Maribyrnong council website.
