New Years Eve event returns to Footscray Park

New Year’s Eve is a big night on the Footscray calendar for it heralds the spectacular annual fireworks display.

As in previous seven years, the fireworks will be matched on the ground in Footscray Park by an impressive array of fun and entertainment for all ages. The festivities will begin at 6:30pm with live entertainment, food, games and carnival rides. Fireworks will light up the sky at 9:30pm, assuring families of an awesome, jaw-dropping experience.

Popular kid’s entertainer Peter Combe, along with Dance Habit, will kick off the live performances, followed by singer songwriter Olympia, who has been nominated for an Aria award.

The powerhouse eight-piece band Jazz Party will keep the party rocking, with Digital Afrika set to entertain the crowd with its African melodies and rhythms at the conclusion of the fireworks display.

Flyer printing has often been undertaken to alert locals to celebrations such as this on New Year’s Eve. Mayor Sarah Carter said the major event attracts both local families and many others from Melbourne’s inner suburbs, adding:

“Picnic blankets are spread across the park, there’s always bubbles blown and chased by the kids, giggles from the ride goers and the fantastic stage performers getting young and old bopping along.”

In addition to drinkable water on site, the event will also host 24 food vans and it is recommended that everyone takes re-useable containers.
