Footscray will soon see a significant improvement in healthcare services, with the construction of a new hospital that is set to provide world-class healthcare to the growing region.
The new Footscray Hospital will deliver more than 500 beds and increase the number of treated patients by 15,000. The additional acute facilities, specialist facilities and clinical support spaces will make this site a thriving health and research precinct. Furthermore, there will be teaching and training spaces, making this site a premier learning facility for students at Victoria University’s nearby Footscray Park Campus.
The consortium involved in bringing the project to life will be led by Plenary Health and will include Multiplex as the builder, Honeywell and Compass as facilities and maintenance managers and Sojitz Corporation as a major investor.
The State Government will be providing up to $1.5 billion for the development, which will employ around 2,000 people at peak construction and will be actively sourcing equipment from local businesses and services.
Large construction sites close to the city like this one often impact surrounding communities, as they can stay active for many years and undergo several phases of construction. Flyer printing can be used to produce materials that will raise awareness of upcoming road closures or noise pollution.
With construction already underway, the new Footscray Hospital is set for completion by 2025.
