Footscrays new look to be celebrated

People from Footscray are being invited to acknowledge the area's revamped visuals at a special party on Saturday.

The Regional Rail Project has been going on in the area for the past three years, but now the work is finished and the station has been upgraded along with new tracks.

Other work in the area includes a new office building in McNab Avenue, which houses a range of State Government agencies, including City West Water, and has brought thousands of new workers. Footscray Plaza has also been refurbished with a redesigned Coles and Kmart among the retailers on offer.

The open day organised by the Maribyrnong City Council and its partners will include tours of the new station and live entertainment. Visitors should look out for poster printing advertising the various events, which include tai chi and Zumba sessions. There will also be a number of stalls selling food from around the world celebrating the area's multicultural nature.

There will be a range of live performances with something for every age, including the Snuff Puppets, musician Tommy Castles, and local band Pataphysics.

Children will be kept entertained by the kids' activities, and there is also the chance to take home some free souvenirs.a

The celebration takes place on Saturday, November 15th next to Footscray Station in McNab Avenue from 11am to 2pm, and entry is free.
