Fans of twirling, whirling, gyrating and pirouetting will converge on Footscray, Victoria, this year to attend the 2015 National Dance Forum.
The event represents an opportunity for members of the dance community around Australia to mingle, exchange ideas and gain an insight into the latest trends and techniques.
Delegates are traditionally from a broad range of elements within the field, including Australian dancers, educators, advocates, producers, directors, writers and researchers.
A focus on performance and technique will be dominant throughout the programme, according to Facilitator Andrew Morrish.
Presentations will include special performances and opportunities to analyse and comment on styles and specific techniques.
Issues raised will include industry members’ abilities to alter dance routines to meet ever-changing trends, according to Morrish.
He said the dance industry was constantly challenged to keep up with modern or innovative performance styles, and everyone from teachers to performers needed to be flexible and open-minded about form and structure.
