Residents from Footscray, Victoria and surrounding areas have been invited to join the ‘No Excuses!’ women’s choir.
To be presented by the Big West Festival and the School of Hard Knocks, No Excuses! has been described as a song suite to be performed by female instrumentalists and vocalists. It has been created by composers Kathleen McGuire and Christina Green.
The production focuses upon domestic abuse and family violence, and portrays real stories of inspirational resilience and struggle as shared by females living in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
According to organisers, No Excuses! will leave audiences feeling empowered by messages of hope and solidarity.
Rehearsals for the production will be held by Christina Green and Dr. Kathleen McGuire, who said the No Excuses! women’s choir would be an exciting experience for everyone involved. They urged anyone interested in joining the choir to register via TryBooking.com
A $50 registration fee will include music files and music, eight rehearsals between now and November 15, parking, and two performances to be held on November 20 and 21.
The rehearsals will take place Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Footscray Hospital. Free parking is available.
The Victorian Government via Creative Victoria supports The No Excuses! Project, which is expected to receive publicity via flyer and brochure printing as the November show dates approach.
