Footscray and its surrounds will be full of theatre and art this month as the biennial Big West Festival takes place.
This year the festival is celebrating its tenth birthday and will be holding a
street party in Nicholson Street, Footscray to mark the occasion.
The party is running from 10am to 4pm on Saturday November 21st and will include outdoor theatre and art performances, art installations and the chance for partygoers to show off their own moves on the Dance Runway.
The theme of this year’s festival is housing and each of the theatre production and artworks explore the theme in some way.
The organising team have also designed and built a low-cost house, which will be used as the festival’s main hub as well as a venue for many of the performances. After the festival have closed the house, which has been designed by local architects and built by students from Victoria and Monash Universities, will be donated to a family who are currently homeless.
Brochures have been printed for the festival containing full details of all the events as well as a map to help Footscray residents find their way to each of the local venues.
This year’s festival will run from Friday November 20th to Saturday November 28th. For full programme details or to book tickets visit the Big West Festival website
